Relax – Decorate Your Bathroom like a Spa

There is so much more to your bathroom than simply being the room where you shower and brush your teeth. There is nothing quite like giving yourself time alone to have a good soak and relax. Lots of people want to feel like they can unwind in their bathroom and there’s no more peaceful setting than a spa. Rather than spending excessive amounts of money at an expensive health spas, you can save money in the long term by creating the same effect in your own home by simply and cheaply decorating your bathroom like a spa.

Start by choosing an appropriate colour with which to paint your walls. It may be the case that you prefer flashy colours, however you will find that more inviting warm colours will produce that all important soothing effect. Deep browns and reds will work well as well as touches of crisp white in order to help yor relax. Paint is a highly inexpensive way of changing the look and feel of a room.

Another inexpensive suggestion for changing the mood of the room is to gather a collection of candles. Why not try using candles who’s colour complements the rest of the room. This will help to make the bathroom appear more cohesive. Place some candles around your bathtub as well as your sink, but for safety’s ake it is best to use battery operated candles as these will give out the same light without the fire hazard. As an alternative you may wish to use scented candles to give out a more appealing aroma.

Any robes or slippers should be hung on the wall when not being worn. A large fluffy robe and a big pair of comfortable slippers are sure to help you relax, as both are very much part of the whole spa experience. It’s just a small touch, however it can really help to get you in the mood and make you feel like you are in a real spa.

No spa is complete without large fluffy towels. If you are serious about giving your bathroom a spa feel then make sure that you get rid of all your old thin towels. PUrchase at least two new towels to pamper yourself with and buy oversized towels that you can wrap your entire body in rather than the smaller normal towels that will just about wrap round your head.

If your bathroom is large enough then you may wish to add a small water feature to your bathroom. An indoor water fountain, waterfall or other type of feature can add a serene atmospher. You may also wish to purchase a small stereo to add some calming music to help you relax. If you don’t have space on the floor then place the stereo/radio in a cabinet on the wall.

Grow plants in your bathroom where possible and in particular look for plants that can take the high humidity and available light. If you find that you do not have enough natural light to grow a love plant then this can be remedied by instead purchasing plastic ferns.

About the author

Dave Matthews is writing on behalf of Visionhouse Software, authors of quality bathroom design software.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/home-improvement-articles/relax-decorate-your-bathroom-like-a-spa-1736216.html
